David J. Asmann
Partner & Co-Founder
Dave is a Partner and Co-Founder of the firm in 1999. His over 32 year investing and advising career has included all aspects of corporate finance, restructuring, M&A, capital placement and strategic advisory to companies in a broad spectrum of industries. Dave's creative financial structuring expertise provides clients with practical "market tolerant" financial solutions, ensuring wide capital market acceptance. He also has extensive experience working with distressed or underperforming middle market companies as well as creditors both in and out of bankruptcy. As a qualified turnaround advising firm by major financial institutions, Dave leads as Chief Restructuring Officer for firm clients.
Prior to Triton, Dave was Co-founder, Senior Managing Director and Executive Credit Committee member of GMAC Business Credit - Structured Finance Group. Prior to this, he was Senior Vice President, Midwest Area Manager at Heller Financial, Inc. - Corporate Finance in Chicago.
David has an undergraduate Bachelor of Science degree in Finance from the University of Illinois, as well as a Masters degree from Northwestern University's Kellogg Graduate School of Management with majors in finance, marketing and management.
Gregory J. Nowlin
Partner & Co-Founder
Greg is a Partner and Co-Founder of the firm in 1999. He brings over two decades of broad national corporate deal making experience investing into companies and advising clients on capital raising, M&A, restructurings and assessing strategic alternatives in a variety of industries. Greg’s strong network of capital provider relationships nationwide ensures firm clients broad access to highly customized and durable financial solutions. He also has extensive restructuring experience advising companies, lenders, creditors and investors in financially challenged situations. Throughout his over 25 years of corporate deal making, Greg has worked extensively with agricultural companies, which provides the firm a distinctive network and competence when working with clients across the agribusiness sectors.
Prior to starting Triton, Greg was Co-founder, Senior Managing Director and Executive Credit Committee member of GMAC Business Credit - Structured Finance Group. Prior to GMAC, Greg was a Senior Vice President, Area Manager at Heller Financial, Inc. - Corporate Finance both in Chicago and San Francisco.
Greg completed his Bachelor of Science degree in Finance from the Whittemore School of Business and Economics at the University of New Hampshire and continued his postgraduate finance education at National Westminster Bank's Corporate Finance Training Program facilitated by New York University.
James joined Triton in the Spring of 2017, after a successful 35 year career dedicated to Agribusiness lending/investing. As a recognized industry expert, James held senior executive leadership positions for the Food and Agriculture Groups at some of the largest US based financial institutions including Wells Fargo Bank, US Bank, CIT, and Fifth Third Bank. Throughout his career, he has used his knowledge and experience to successfully structure and underwrite complex transactions to meet client needs. James has worked with virtually all Agribusiness sectors and has brought a unique skill set and commitment to his clients that has allowed them to capitalize on the opportunities and navigate challenges in the various Agribusiness industry sectors.
James brings Triton a potent relationship network of Agribusiness companies and investors. His former client roster ranges from Fortune 500, publicly held businesses to middle market family, privately held businesses. As a trusted capital and advisor resource, he has cultivated strong relationships with a wide variety of private and institutional Agribusiness investors. James has been a member of various industry groups such as the National Grain and Feed Association, the National Chicken Council, the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association, CattleFax, Twenty First Century Pork Club, Informa Economics, the Association for Corporate Growth and the Commercial Finance Association. James holds a degree in Finance from the University of Illinois-Chicago.
Maria has over twenty-five years of corporate finance and financial auditing experience. Prior to joining Triton, Maria held positions of increased financial responsibility ultimately leading to the Chief Financial Officer's position of Don Greene Poultry (DGP) - a wholesale food distribution business and former Triton client. Prior to DGP, Maria was an audit manager with national accounting firm, Lavethol & Horwath. Maria received her undergraduate Bachelor of Science degree in accounting from the University of Florida and a Master's degree in accounting from St. Thomas University. Maria has been a certified public accountant for over 25 years.
Brian D. Petrina
Since joining Triton in 2002, Brian has successfully led engagements focused on capital placements, buy and sell side acquisitions and financial restructurings. He has significant experience serving as interim CFO/CRO and leading broad finance department restructurings. These interim positions typically include the creation and implementation of performance measurement tools, standardized reporting/budgeting, in-depth procurement management protocols, as well as the identification, hiring and training of new financial leadership for the restructured company. While he has broad industry experience across all the firm’s service offerings, Brian has developed a distinctive analytical competence across the agribusiness industry sector.
Prior to joining Triton Capital Partners, Mr. Petrina was with Chicago based William Blair & Company as an analyst in the investment banking group. While at Blair, he worked in a number of corporate finance areas including mergers and acquisitions, private placements and public equity transactions. Mr. Petrina received his BBA with a concentration in Finance from the University of Notre Dame.
Grant A. Lo Destro
Grant joined Triton in 2010 via the firm’s investment banking analyst program. Grant advises middle market companies on mergers and acquisitions, private placements, turnaround advisory & 363 sales and strategic advisory engagements. He works intimately with the owners and management teams of the firm’s clients often acting as an extension of the Company’s own management team and has held varying roles including interim CFO and Chief Restructuring Officer (CRO). These interim positions typically include the creation and implementation of performance measurement tools, standardized reporting/budgeting, in-depth procurement management protocols, as well as the identification, hiring and training of new financial leadership for the restructured company. He has advised clients in numerous industries including manufacturing, distribution, food production and business to business services. His focus has been with closely held businesses and particularly ones experiencing generational transition or those without an identified succession plan.
Grant received his Bachelor of Science degree in Finance from Chicago’s DePaul University in 2010 and is a member of the Alliance of Merger and Acquisition Advisors (AM&AA), Association for Corporate Growth (ACG), Commercial Finance Association (CFA) and Turnaround Management Association.
Lee Ellen Wilson
Prior to joining Triton Capital Partners, Mrs. Wilson managed Strategic Investments at Northern Illinois Gas where she was responsible for identifying, reviewing and executing domestic and international project finance opportunities. Mrs. Wilson received her BS degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Illinois School and her MBA from the University of Chicago.
George joined Triton Capital in 2014 after receiving his BA in Economics from DePauw University and has completed the two year Analyst Program. He is focused on modeling, financial analysis, and aiding in the execution of mergers and acquisitions, private placements, and restructurings.
Spencer joined Triton in 2015 as an analyst focusing on financial modeling , industry research, and client financial analyses. Prior to joining Triton, Spencer worked for United Parcel Service focusing on financial systems implementation and financial budgeting and analysis. Spencer received his BS with a concentration in Finance and Agri-Business from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 2013.
